It was Friday night after a long week, a perfect time for the King Street Oyster Bar in good ole Leesburg. If you are looking for some good food in a lively atmosphere, excellent drinks, and a nice selection of oysters, this is the place. If you live in the Leesburg area, you are also likely to bump into someone you know.
We’ve been here a number of times, but haven’t been since the Fall and were in the mood for some oysters. Lately we’ve been ordering several small plate appetizers here, as opposed to a full dinner. This is what we had on Friday:
Oysters:
Outstanding! We shared six west coast Flapjack Point from Wash. state and 3 Wellfleet, ME east coast oysters. We’ve had the Wellfleet in the past and they are a go to east coast oyster. Not very salty with a mild flavor and medium texture. The Flapjack Point oysters were a first for us. These were very flavorful with a nice creamy texture.
Shrimp Bites:
These were very similar to calamari, except with small shrimp. Nice little appetizer with a pleasant fruity, ginger taste.
Columbian Style Ceviche:
This was just ok. It was pretty basic with small shrimp and whitefish in lime with some onion.
Grilled Chipotle Crusted Oysters (pictured):
These were simply OUTSTANDING! I wasn’t expecting much from these, but they ended up being the best item we ordered and I would say the best item I’ve ever had here. Andouille, chipotle, and bacon. Enough said!
